WHAT IS A GEAR SWAP?
The Gear Swap is an opportunity for individuals to both buy and/or sell outdoor gear and equipment. The event is a chance for you to swap out new or used outdoor gear that you don’t use, and shop around the collective inventory.
WHY A GEAR SWAP?
Our mission at Fish for Garbage is to clean waterways and promote stewardship of aquatic ecosystems. We recognize that part of stewardship is the accessibility for all to access and recreate in the outdoors. By offering an event for all to purchased significantly discounted outdoor gear, we hope everyone can access their first pair of waders, fishing rod, high quality rain jacket, etc.
HOW DOES IT WORK? (**PLEASE READ BEFORE ATTENDING**)
SELLERS:
Bring your outdoor gear to the event. We will be curating items as early as 9am and encourage you to come early to increase your chances of selling.
Come to an agreed upon price with a FFG team member and we will add a price tag with your name on the item(s). We will take down your contact info.
The FFG team will display your item(s) for sale from 10am-2pm.
If your gear sells at the event, you will receive 80% of the item’s sale price. FFG will retain the other 20% to fund our 2023 waterway cleanups and education programming.
We will notify you by text when item(s) sell and distribute your earnings at the end of the day. Unsold items can be either picked up between 2-3pm or chosen to be donated to The Gear Fund Collective. Items that are not picked up by 3pm will automatically be donated.
The Gear Fund Collective is a mutual aid style volunteer-based organization that redistributes outdoor gear to those who need it, prioritizing Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA2S+ folks, for free. Check out their IG @thegearfundcollective.
BUYERS:
