On Saturday, September 16th, 2023, the Weber River came alive with the spirit of community and environmental stewardship as volunteers gathered for the annual Fish For Garbage Weber River Clean Up. This event, aimed at preserving the natural beauty of the Weber River, was a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the generous support of sponsors and partners.
One of the highlights of the day was the delicious BBQ lunch provided by the Utah chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. Volunteers fueled up with mouthwatering burgers and hot dogs, giving them the energy they needed to tackle the cleanup efforts. To complement the meal, Uinta Brewery provided refreshing beverages, helping everyone stay hydrated throughout the day.
The event wouldn't have been possible without the invaluable support and in-kind donations from sponsors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to these sponsors for their commitment to environmental conservation and their contributions to the participation drawing, which added an extra layer of excitement to the event.
A special shout-out goes to the Pit Viper team for their enthusiastic presence at the cleanup. Their high energy and stoke helped create a vibrant atmosphere, keeping spirits high and motivating volunteers as they worked to clean up the river.
But what truly made the day remarkable was the incredible effort put forth by our dedicated volunteers. Together, they collected and disposed of a staggering 3,080 pounds of trash from the Weber River. This monumental achievement demonstrates the power of community collaboration and serves as a testament to the importance of protecting our natural resources.
